Clifford Chance

Jonathan Lambrix (1998) is a Belgian graphic designer and artist born in Munich, Germany. Due to his great interest in the visual arts from a young age, he has developed his own style over the years and now focuses on expressive portraits and abstract landscapes, the aim of which is to evoke an emotion and convey feeling. After an arduous quest for a self-identity as a queer artist, he now feels ready to share this feeling with the wider public.

For this exhibition he is exhibiting eight works of charcoal on paper, which question his sexuality, activism and political pride.

Laurence Herfs (1994) is an artist from The Netherlands. She obtained a BFA in Painting from the Royal Academy of Arts The Hague in 2021. For this exhibition Herfs investigates the female body in transformation with her seven drawings. She interweaves female voices of mythology and demonology with a personal contemporary imagery because those pervasive images of womanhood are personal to her: as a queer artist, she has long adored, absorbed and internalised them as simultaneously an expression of the self and the desired other; as part of her own gender expression, as well as of her sexuality.

Rotteveel Vermeer is a recently founded Dutch colorist duo, consisting of visual artist Jochem Rotteveel and fashion stylist Thomas Vermeer. Their shared fascination with color brought them together. Jochem Rotteveel describes himself as a painter, who utilizes special materials: adhesive foil and tape. Thomas Vermeer has been working as a stylist for major brands.

Rotteveel Vermeer approached their material in the conviction that every type of material could be appropriate for art, as long as it is able to surprise the artist. For this exhibition they have provided three works on dibond panels and also one large mural.

Aaron Boot (1997) Is a Dutch contemporary artist who mainly draws his inspiration from nature and human emotions. Boot’s art resembles his personal beliefs towards fragility, sexuality, sensuality, nature and emotions. These topics are represented through both abstract and realistic forms. For this exhibition Boot creates two series of works. The Holobiont, which is a series of sculptures which display the fragility of contained ecological units. Meanwhile, the Symbiosis series is a mixed media work, which combines sculpting and painting and enters into conversation with organic shapes, to give the shown expression more depth and emotion.

Lon Godin studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. The brushstroke, the action, the texture form the common thread in the work of Godin. Aspects such as light, space and dynamics are used as dramatic elements. Although her work is purely about the visual, it also evokes an underlying world: an indefinable "presence". The eight paintings she chose for this exhibition are about the tension between representation and formal properties of the painting. Presentation versus image. The surface, which is what the painting actually is, is loaded with space and movement. This load is palpable.
