Clifford Chance Advises ExxonMobil on Fifth Carbon Capture Agreement
Houston: Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised ExxonMobil on its carbon capture and sequestration agreement in connection with its partnership with ADNOC for a proposed low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia production facility in Baytown, Texas.
This work continues the firm's support of ExxonMobil, with Jonathan Castelan leading the Clifford Chance team on this matter and supporting ExxonMobil's four previously announced carbon capture agreements.
Upon completion, this will be the world's largest low-carbon hydrogen facility and will leverage advanced carbon capture and storage technologies to reduce emissions associated with hydrogen production. The facility expects to convert US-produced natural gas into virtually carbon-free hydrogen, with ~98% of CO2 removed.
Castelan offered, "It is always a pleasure to work with the ExxonMobil team, and we are proud to continue to support them on their CCS transactions."
Castelan was supported by associates Sam Bentley and Hillary Healey, with partner Alex Leff advising on Tax matters.
