Mark Grime advises on high-stakes antitrust / competition law matters and investigations, including in relation to merger control, cartels and unilateral conduct. His practice focuses particularly on advising clients in respect of antitrust issues associated with, and obtaining regulatory approvals for, complex and contentious transactions. Prior to joining Clifford Chance Mark worked in the Enforcement and Mergers divisions of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission. He is dual qualified in Australia and New York.

Mark has been consistently recognised as a rising star and next generation practitioner in various legal directories for competition and antitrust law in Australia and the Asia-Pacific.

Mark is also the executive member for Arcus Australia, Clifford Chance's diversity and inclusion network for LGBTQI+ colleagues and allies.

  • Viva Energy on its $1.15 billion acquisition of OTR Group.
  • Qatar Airways and British Airways on relevant antitrust immunity filings for their expanded joint business agreement.
  • A major international bank on multi-jurisdictional competition law and regulatory risk associated with restructuring credit facilities linked to nickel market volatility.
  • Oracle Corporation regarding its billion-dollar acquisitions of Aconex Limited's cloud-based enterprise solutions business and Cerner Corporation's healthcare enterprise software business.
  • Bain Capital on competition law risk and obtaining merger clearance for the time-critical acquisition of Ansett Aviation Training.
  • Bunnings Group Limited on its acquisitions of Adelaide Tools (Phase 2) and Beaumont Tiles (Phase 1).
  • Sinochem and ChemChina on antitrust aspects of their strategic merger.
  • MBK Partners and TPG on antitrust aspects of their proposed WTT HK and HKBN merger.
  • GE on the merger control aspects of its oilfield services merger with Baker Hughes and on the sale of GE Water & Process Technologies to Suez S.A.
  • JustEat plc and the Menulog Group on competition law matters relating to the merger of Menulog and EatNow.
  • Advising parties on ACCC merger authorisation matters and third-party complainants in ACCC merger reviews and proceedings.
  • Advising parties on (and successfully resolving) ACCC enforcement investigations relating to alleged misuse of market power, anticompetitive agreements, cartel conduct and consumer law matters.
